Thulium metal is a bright, lustrous, soft, malleable, silvery rare earth metal, a member of the lanthanide group of the periodic table. It is the second least abundant of the lanthanides only after promethium. It can be cut with a knife. Thulium Metal, is mainly used in making superalloys, and has some application in ferrites (ceramic magnetic materials) used in microwave equipment and also as a radiation source of portable X-ray. Thulium potentially has use in ferrites, ceramic magnetic materials that are used in microwave equipment. it is used in arc lighting for its unusual spectrum. Thulium Metal can be further processed to various shapes of ingots, pieces, wires, foils, slabs, rods, discs and powder.

Application of Thulium Metal:
Portable X-ray devices use thulium that has been bombarded in a nuclear reactor as a radiation source. Thulium-170 is also gaining popularity as an X-ray source for cancer treatment via brachytherapy. In addition, Holmium-chromium-thulium triple-doped Yttrium aluminum garnet is an active laser medium material.
Packaging of Thulium Metals:
SAM’s Thulium metals are clearly tagged and labeled externally to ensure efficient identification and quality control. Great care is taken to avoid any damage which might be caused during storage or transportation.
